Tornadoes Swim Team aims to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals of all ages can experience the enjoyment of, and can reach personal excellence in, the sport of swimming.We believe in protecting each individual in a positive and safe manner.

USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program, a comprehensive abuse prevention program, consists of a multi-layered approach to keep kids safe, including: required policies and best practice guidelines; mandatory screening, including criminal background checks and employment screening; training and education; monitoring, supervision and mandatory reporting. These measures are informed by experts in the field of child safety and are among the strongest safeguards found in youth-serving organizations. WTST Covid-19 Start up Protocols and Guidelines

The Tornadoes Swim Team (WTST) as an organization are fully committed to keeping our swimmers, coaches, volunteers and families safe as we return to the pool. Please read the following protocols. Coaches, parent volunteers and team Captains will enforce all safety guidelines. These guidelines will by updated as local, state, the CDC and USA swimming mandates.

WTST practice protocols:

PPE:

  • All coaches, volunteers will be required to masks during all practice times, unless

  • accepted social distancing (6 feet) can be permitted.

  • All swimmers will wear masks entering and exiting the pool, upon exiting the car and

  • until they enter the car, leaving practice.

  • When dryland commences, masks will be worn unless socially distanced.

  • All swimmers, volunteers and coaches will sanitize their hands as they arrive and when they leave. Sanitizer will be provided.

Social Distancing:

  • Please arrive 5 minutes before your swimmers’ practice.

  • We will be marking spots for swimmers to stand upon arrival

  • 6-foot distancing will be enforced by volunteers and coaches.

  • Coaches will be stationed on deck in the middle area of the pool.

  • Swimmers will not need to bring equipment bags until further notice.

  • Swimmers should have suits on upon arrival and leave in their suits.

  • Swimmers must bring their own water bottles!

  • There will be 15 minutes between practices to clean and keep teammates appropriately separated.

Swimmer/family guidelines:

  • Locker rooms will not be accessible.

  • The nursery bathroom will be available, for emergency use. The swimmer is

  • responsible to clean the room when done.

  • The pool lobby area changing stalls) will be available in the near future when it is

  • deemed safe and practices are running smoothly.

  • Swimmers will be allowed to line up 5 minutes prior to their practice. If you arrive early, the swimmer must remain in the car.

  • Swimmers must leave the pool immediately after practice, straight to the car no loitering/socializing.

  • Water fountains will not be accessible...water bottles mandatory!

  • All pick-ups must be on time!

  • Swimmers only in the pool area. The only exceptions are parent volunteers who may need to speak with the head coach, social distancing will be adhered to in that situation.

  • Protocols to be met for a swimmer, coach or volunteer to be met to attend any practices:

    • Cannot have had a temperature over 100 degrees or any Covid symptoms in the last 14 days.

    • Cannot have had contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid in the last 14 days.

    • Any Coach, swimmer, family members who have had exposure to Covid-19 should stay home and if necessary, seek medical advice.

  • Any swimmer, volunteer or coach who has shown symptoms may not attend practice for 14 days or is medically cleared.

  • We ask all involved with the team to respect social distancing in all circumstances.

  • We reserve the right to suspend families that have consistently proven to be ignoring social distance guidelines.

Facility protocols:

  • Swimmers will be entering the pool on the pool side of the building. The Marathon Sports side.

  • USA swimming says when possible, park with a spot in between each other.

  • Swimmers will enter the pool based on the lane and end of the pool they have been assigned.

  • Swimmers assigned lanes 1-6 starting in the shallow end will be entering and leaving 6 feet apart through the filter room door.

  • Swimmers starting in the deep end will be entering and leaving through the ramp door.

  • Locker rooms will be off limits, no showering in the facility.

  • Water Fountains off limits.

  • Hot tub and saunas are closed.

  • Nursery bathroom available on a limited basis.

  • The remainder of the gym is closed.

  • Swimmers will be in the pool area only.

  • The pool area will be thoroughly cleaned daily following practice.

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19, must inform the team immediately.
